What's been going on?

The top picture is of Ethan on Easter Sunday. The second picture is of Ethan after a haircut. He is so happy because I gave him a sucker for being a good boy. The last picture is of Ethan at the annual neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt at Nin and Pa's. Ethan has a huge grin on his face because he is holding a cookie the size of his head!
Ethan has grown so much in the past few months. He has really lost all of his baby"ness" and looks like a little boy.
I have had a hard time catching up on this blog because I have been really tired this last trimester. I have been trying to talk to Ethan about his new baby sister. A lot of times when I bring her up, he wants to be held, wants his paci and his blanket.
-Ethan, you will always be my baby. No matter what. I get sad when I think of our time alone together coming to an end, but I know that a sibling will be a wonderful gift. We hope that you two will be very close!- We have less than 3 weeks until baby Joy gets here. I have been so worried about Ethan and the transition, that I have held back any excitement. However, yesterday, I spent the whole day going through 21 months of pictures of Ethan and his baby book, and I am getting really excited to meet her and have another baby.
Ethan is doing so many neat things these days. Last week, he sang the last verse to Elmo's World. The first time he has ever sung! He sung "That's Elmo's World!".
He can say 3 word sentences and we couldn't even to begin to count all of the words he knows.
When he is super happy, he will run in place and shake his head from side to side. We call it the Happy Dance.
Oswald said that he learned the words Hoochie Mama the other day while they were in the car. Oswald saw a Hoochie Mama somewhere and commented on it to Ethan, haha!
Ethan can count to around 14 and we are really trying to work on the ABC's. He knows most of his colors and shapes too!
Ethan is really enjoying his school. He has some "best friends" there. Jack Clark, Ravi, Sean, and a couple of girls too. When I ask him about his friends, he rattles off their names. He also loves to play with the kids here in the neighborhood even though he has no concept of sharing yet :)
One morning last week I went in to wake him up and he had learned to unzip his pajamas and was naked. Thank goodness his poopy diaper was still on!
Speaking of poopy diapers, we can get him to sit on the potty and go "pee" and he has pooped in there before, but he is not really interested. And I am not sure that with a baby coming in the next few weeks that this is the time to start potty training.
Life with Ethan is becoming more fun than I ever imagined it would be. He has recently discovered bugs (buggies) and will chase squirrels and it is just amazing to watch him learn and discover.
Ethan's favorite things are Elmo, Diddle (his nursery rhyme books), Mommy or Daddy singing "Hush Baby", buckling the strap on his highchair or stroller, Mommy building a tower with his blocks so that he can crash it, throwing rocks in the creek behind Pa's house, and ice cream (ice keem).
This past weekend, Ethan left with Oswald to go to Laurel Spring. This is the first trip he has taken with just his Daddy. I miss them both like crazy, but they are having a lot of fun. Oswald told me today that they have been riding the horses and that Ethan has loved it.
I hope to get on and blog before Joy arrives, but in case she comes in a hurry I just want to say:

Ethan, you will always be my baby. No matter what. These past 21 months have been the best of my life. You are so precious and such a gift from God. I get sad when I think of our time alone together coming to an end, but I know that a sibling will be a wonderful gift. We hope that you two will be very close! Your Daddy and I have loved having you so much and you have brought us so much joy that we knew we wanted another child. You both are our biggest blessings! Mommy loves you!

awww, I have tears in my eyes!!! But,I am so glad you updated!! Good luck in the next few weeks. And believe it or not, you will still get some alone time with Ethan, and you will just treasure it! It will be a bit of an adjustment how much you will feel like he is even more of a big boy after the baby comes. Good luck! Can't wait to see pics of Baby Joy!!
